Ortho Mosaic

An orthomosaic is a high-resolution, georeferenced image created by stitching together multiple overlapping aerial or drone photographs into a single seamless map. Before the images are combined, each one undergoes orthorectification to remove distortions caused by terrain elevation, camera tilt, lens characteristics, and perspective. This correction ensures that every pixel is accurately aligned with its real-world geographic position, allowing precise distance, area, and coordinate measurements.

Unlike a standard aerial photograph, an orthomosaic maintains a uniform scale across the entire image, making it suitable for mapping and spatial analysis. Because it represents the Earth's surface with high positional accuracy, it serves as a reliable base layer for Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Orthomosaics are widely used in surveying, construction, precision agriculture, mining, environmental monitoring, forestry, urban planning, disaster response, and infrastructure inspection.
